Cyxtera represents a vision founded at the confluence of two revolutionary forces: the continued evolution of enterprise IT, and a transformation in infrastructure security.
Today’s IT estates run in more locations, on more platforms, and with more diverse models than ever before. Enterprise IT is dynamic, distributed, and deeply interconnected.
The problem is, too many providers are applying yesterday’s security to today’s IT.
Hardware-centric and inflexible in an API-driven universe. Perimeter-focused in a world without boundaries. The same old cumbersome, expensive firewalls—with thousands of static rules—trying in vain to secure a world in constant motion.
The last two decades have brought seismic changes to enterprise IT availability, agility and scalability, and the next era must be underpinned by a revolution in infrastructure security.
Manuel Medina, CEO
By combining a modern, hybrid-ready information security fabric with an uncommonly diverse and distributed footprint of 57 world-class data centers, Cyxtera delivers a secure platform for connecting and protecting dedicated infrastructure, private clouds and public clouds.
For enterprises, government agencies and service providers, Cyxtera offers powerful, secure IT infrastructure capabilities paired with agile, dynamic software-defined security.
Simply put, we’re a new kind of data center company—one with security integrated as a core service offering into the facilities that sit at the nexus of enterprise IT and the cloud. And we’re a new kind of security company—with solutions built for the way we run our applications today.
From our headquarters in Miami and major operations in cities around the world, we provide more than 3,500 customers with a secure, global platform for their mission-critical applications and systems.
A consortium led by private equity firms BC Partners and Medina Capital formed Cyxtera through the acquisition of a data center footprint and associated colocation business from CenturyLink along with four companies that comprised Medina Capital's Security and Analytics portfolio – Cryptzone, Catbird, Easy Solutions and Brainspace – in a $2.8 billion transaction.
