Hybrid IT, Enterprise Bare Metal, Colocation in Business

The recently published Gartner® report, Predicts 2022: Driving Toward Digital Infrastructure Platforms, examines “how infrastructure and operations leaders will drive digital transformation by increasing automation and consumption-based procurement of infrastructure. “

According to Gartner, “Digital transformation demands transformation in how infrastructures are consumed and managed. The percentage of consumption-based procurement of compute and storage capacity (outside of public cloud) will quadruple in the next few years. Likewise, implementations of infrastructure automation will increase significantly. While expansion and migration to cloud computing continues to grow, and new applications tend to be cloud-native, application portfolios will remain, if anything, more diverse and more hybrid.”

“By 2025, 70% of organizations will implement structured infrastructure automation to deliver flexibility and efficiency, up from 20% in 2021.”

As Gartner states, “Organizations struggle to deliver efficiency, simplicity, flexibility and scale of the infrastructure on which they depend, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction.” The report also notes that many IT leaders are “challenged with knowing where and how to start with infrastructure automation, leading to hesitation and missed opportunities.”

Cyxtera understands that today’s on-demand consumers and dynamic economic landscape makes it difficult for IT leaders to modernize systems while continuing to balance budgets. Traditional business models are changing to an always on, on-demand mindset, a shift accommodating convenience and immediacy, requiring businesses to upgrade their infrastructure to keep up.

Smarter and more agile than traditional data centers, Cyxtera provides intelligently automated and deeply connected infrastructure to businesses around the world – enabling them to scale faster, become more agile, maintain control and reduce costs. Cyxtera enables businesses to centralize their complete data ecosystem through a software-defined platform that offers on-demand provisioning and customization of each of the elements of a traditional data center - including storage, compute power, networking and management.

To that end, Cyxtera recently announced the launch of its smart cabinet solution, providing customers with dedicated, on-demand colocation cabinets complete with built-in power and integrated, configurable, core network fabric. Users no longer have to make tradeoffs when weighing the benefits of colocation against those of public cloud models – customers can deploy into colocation with the speed and scale of the cloud without sacrificing the performance and security of dedicated infrastructure.

Other benefits of SmartCabs include:

  • Instant deployment and dynamic configuration of end-to-end colocation infrastructure in a cloud-like, on-demand model
  • Direct access to a robust ecosystem of technology and service providers available across the company’s global platform
  • Access to network connectivity from Cyxtera’s on-demand Layer 3 bandwidth solution
  • Rapid connectivity in an as-a-service model without requiring an additional network hardware or further capital expenditures
