Hybrid IT, Enterprise Bare Metal, Colocation in Data Centers

While Los Angeles might be best known for its film industry and infamous highway system (and traffic), it’s also one of the country’s leading tech centers. No wonder when you consider the overlap of such high-tech industries as entertainment, gaming, animation, media, and content development and distribution. Beyond arts and entertainment, however, there are more than 700,000 people working in the health and biomedical fields and close to 200,000 working in aerospace in the LA metro area, and that doesn’t even touch upon those in manufacturing and importing/exporting (Los Angeles is home to the largest twin-port complex in the Western Hemisphere).

Bespoke options in LA

With all these high-tech sectors comes a significant need for data storage and compute power. Cyxtera offers three highly connected, AI-ready data centers located strategically throughout the LA basin – from Burbank to LAX to the OC Tech Corridor. All of our LAX data centers are NVIDIA DGX-ready and certified, meaning AI and machine learning-powered workloads can be deployed with agility and speed. This as-a-service model means smaller companies don’t need to make large capital expenditures and risk over-provisioning.

Access to Cyxtera’s Digital Exchange is available throughout our Los Angeles campus system. The Digital Exchange reimagines the data center with click-to-provision solutions that allow enterprises to deploy every facet of their IT infrastructure on-demand. Acting as a single, high-performance fabric between a customer’s colocation environment, on-demand infrastructure, and service providers, enterprises can scale their operations quickly and expand into new markets at speed.

LAX customers are also able to take advantage of Cyxtera Enterprise Bare Metal, which offers the security, control, and performance of dedicated colocation infrastructure in an on-demand model. And, while the platform is designed to meet a broad range of workload needs, standard bare metal nodes just aren’t enough to handle certain companies' typical workloads. Understanding this, our LAX facilities can create custom nodes that take into account these companies’ unique data and power needs.

Triple threat in Tinseltown

With three facilities in and around the city, enterprises can choose the one that’s right for their workload (and their commute).

Los Angeles/Orange County Campus (LAX1). Located minutes from LAX International Airport, this Energy Star-certified center offers diverse network connectivity and access to public clouds such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure through native interconnections and partner services. As an added incentive, customers who prefer to be located in the heart of Los Angeles benefit from Bloom Energy offset costs for their power consumption.

Burbank Campus (LAX2). Situated in the heart of the world’s media and entertainment capital, LAX2 is convenient to two airports (LAX and Bob Hope Airport) and less than 30 minutes from the center of LA. Protected by a multi-layer security system, including exterior and floor-level biometric measures, our infrastructure is as secure as it is agile.

Irvine Campus (LAX3). Our carrier-neutral Irvine facility provides customers with access to 16 unique network service providers, cloud on-ramps, and a growing community of other service providers, all accessible through the Cyxtera Marketplace. Located minutes from John Wayne International Airport, LAX3 is both Energy Star-rated and Uptime Institute Tier III-certified.
